Australian Rising Star Under 21 Championship
Seesing the Future Stars in Action in Canberra

In conjunction with the Australian Open, we will showcase our rising stars by holding the first ever Australian Under 21 Championship for Men and Women. Our top juniors and those making the transition to the senior world tour ranks will compete to be Australian Champion.

This event allows the players who are just beginning their professional career to showcase the talents that will inspire us in later years. It can be tough on the Tour - playing World Top Ten players in the first or second rounds. The Australian Rising Star Under 21 Championship gives our best the opportunity to compete and possibly play the final on the Centre Court in front of a large crowd immediately before the Open Finals.

Players from the late years of the junior ranks and those just out of juniors will start play on Wednesday 10 August following the completion of all Qualifying and First Round matches in the Open. The Woden Squash Centre will host the event with the finals of the Mens and Womens Under 21 Championships to feature on Finals Day on the Centre Court.

The Australian Rising Star Under 21 Championships are not formal WISPA or PSA events, but are recognised by Squash Australia. This allows the organisers to be more flexible in scheduling and draws to ensure that players who make the first or second round of the main draw of the Australian Open can still have an opportunity to compete in the Under 21 Championships if they choose. in our first year, we have decided to limit entries to Australian players.

Spectators for the Championships at the Woden Squash Centre are most welcome and free of any charges.

Depending on the number of entries in the Men's and Women's Under 21 Championships, quallifying matches may be required and a single plate event may be held to give players the best chance to play matches and catch the eye of the selectors and coaches at the Open.
