Date Finalised for Aust Open 2012
10-Apr-2012 - Australian Open Team

The finals of the Australian Open in 2012 will be held on the weekend of the 18th and 19th of August in Canberra on the all-glass Centre Court. This scheduling, which has taken some time to confirm, narrowly avoids a clash with the London Olympics which finish on the preceeding weekend.
Work is now underway to finalise the sessions and ticket prices to allow keen fans to get the best seats in May. More details will follow as the seating is finalised.
Once again, VIP Packages for either two days - Saturday Semis and Sunday Finals - or three day - Friday Quarter Finals as well as Saturday and Sunday - will go on sale first. VIP Packages provide keen fans with the best seats for all the action directly behind the rear wall of the Centre Court and access to the VIP Lounge during each session - with beer, wine and soft drinks accompanied by 'lounge-style' cold platters and hot food prepared by the chefs at the National Convention Centre.
Compared with other great sporting events, the Australian Open VIP Packages represent excellent value for money and the chance to secure the best seats in the Arena before tickets go on general sale.
Fans will receive an update by the Newsletter before any tickets go on sale. (if you are not registered to receive the Newsletter but would like to hear about the ticket sales as they become available, just register on the Home Page)
This year will also see the Australian Open shared by all squash players in Australia. Previously, our national championships have been run by State and Territory squash associations for a number of years at a time. Given the importance of the Australian Open on a national and international basis, the recent AGM of Squash Australia agreed unanimously that Squash Australia and the State and Territory Squash Associations should own and run the event. All squash players will benefit from the event and in the long term will start to contribute funds to held develop squash in Australia.
